Next December 1st it will be performed at the C3A Center for Contemporary Creation of Andalusia (Córdoba), Recreo.03hand in hand with Antonio Ruz. Work that will continue its tour in his native Andalusia.

Dance should not be limited to a conventional stage space, but should dialogue with the architecture and energy of other places, thus allowing other audiences to discover and access it.

If we put this quote in dialogue with the architectureBasically, it is a discipline that is designed to be inhabited by human beings. So, “dancing” in a space that was not designed for dance means re-inhabiting it, re-inhabiting it… Thus, the “air currents” will adapt according to the movements of the dancers (at least for an ephemeral time), as well as , that the way in which pedestrians will circulate will be redirected by something that will call them to constitute a new “public space”, in which the coexistence between their peers will be enriched by all of them playing the same role: that of spectators. That said, it seems that any place can be converted into a scenic and public space.

We are in a time in which various positions coexist and converge on how we must redefine public spaces in cities, or how to reintegrate rural environments to the entire citizenry of the same country. Although it is true that projects like Recreo.03 They start from a premise that is not “new”, the fact is that these types of projects are what allow us to continue reflecting on our place in space, regardless of the role we are playing at a given moment. What’s more, in Recreo.03 These premises will be encouraged to be developed in a way that transcends the empirical. That is to say: the extra everyday. Without further ado, I give you the synopsis of this work by Antonio Ruz:

The interaction with architectural elements, light and sound, alter and enrich the perception of a place not yet inhabited by movement. In contrast or in tune with this unconventional space, unique universes are created and possibilities of dialogue between body and space, individual and group, tradition and modernity are explored, offering an original show.

With improvisation as a base, dance and Ruz’s composition, ‘Recreo.03’ generates an intimate dialogue with the architecture and physiognomy of the unconventional space where it is represented, in the form of site-specific. Light, sound, space and movement are the conceptual axes of this versatile, adaptable and attractive proposal for a diverse audience.
