This image has a somewhat surreal feel and is not a photo montage or an illustration. This is a real picture, taken from space, specifically from the International Space Station (ISS). Cubes floating in the distance, with the Earth’s surface below them, are satellites of the type known as CubeSats. So they can be observed from the ISS immediately after they are released from the outside of the ISS Kibo module. Once released, they are in orbit around the Earth. (source: NCYT is a miracle)
