Verstappen started the race from pole position and was in first place for almost the entire race, finishing 12.535 seconds ahead of his team-mate. It was the third double victory for “Red Bull” this season.
The top three was completed by Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, less than 21 seconds behind Verstappen, while the fourth was the other Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who started the race from eighth position.
Lando Norris (McLaren) finished fifth, Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) was sixth, George Russell (Mercedes) was seventh, overtaking Oscar Piastri (McLaren) on the last straight, Lewis Hamilton was ninth ( “Mercedes”), while Yuki Tsunoda (“Visa RB”) finished tenth.
Already on the second lap, the race was stopped after Alex Albon (Williams) and Daniel Ricciardo (Visa RB) collided shortly after the start, both of them not continuing the race. Guanyu Zhou (Alfa Romeo) also retired during the race.
After the first four stages of the season, Verstappen is the leader in the overall standings with 77 points. He is followed by Perez with 64 points, while Leclerc with 59 points and Sainz with 55 points are in the third and fourth positions, respectively.
Red Bull is the leader in the Constructors’ Cup with 141 points, followed by Ferrari with 120 points.
This season, 24 rounds will be held in the F-1 championship.
