Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Professor MU Kabir Chowdhury said that Red Crescent is going to start distribution of dry food in different places of the capital from Thursday (July 25) to stand by the needy people in this critical time of the country.

He said this in an emergency meeting at the national headquarters of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society on Wednesday (July 24).

He said, wherever humanity is in crisis, the Red Crescent goes ahead for the welfare of humanity. Red Crescent is going to start distribution of dry food in various places of the capital from Thursday to stand by the needy people in this critical time of the country. Around 2,000 families will be distributed seven-day food packages. Also, during the violence, following the seven principles of the Red Cross Red Crescent movement, volunteers will conduct various activities on behalf of the society including first aid.

State Minister of Disaster Management and Relief Ministry was present among others in this emergency meeting. Mohibbur Rahman, Secretary General of the Society Kazi Shafiqul Azam, Director of Cyclone Preparedness Program Ahmedul Haque, Acting Head of Delegation of IFRC Abhishek Rimal, Director of Disaster Response Department of the Society. Mizanur Rahman, Director of DCRM Department Imam Zafar Sikder, Director of Health Department Professor Brigadier General (Retd.) SM Humayun Kabir, Principal of Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Professor Dr. Mohammad Daultuzzaman and vice-principal Dr. Mohammad Morshed and others.
