Not a dance, impossible in Covid times, and instead of Sporting, the Casino square and the starry sky. Tomorrow at the Rocher the cardinal for the 40th anniversary of the agreements with the Principality
Not a dance (impossible in Covid times), for the first time a concert for the 2021 evening of the Monegasque Red Cross, founded in 1948 by Prince Louis II, grandfather of Ranieri (and father of the charming Charlotte Grimaldi, the result of his love of youth in Algeria). And more than ever, this year, the evening was the recognition of the principality’s health workers who have fought against the pandemic.
It is they, together with the princes – the Grimaldi family present with Alberto, Caroline, their children Andrea and Pierre, their sister Charlotte with Beatrice Borromeo and also the brother of Princess Charlne, Gareth Wittstock – and the inevitable glamor in the summer of Monaco, the protagonists of this evening of the Red Cross in the new, completely pedestrianized Place du Casin. The new square in front of the legendary Hotel de Paris will thus be able to host concerts and events as well as the crowd of Monegasques and tourists. Certainly, the novelty that for now is dividing the Monegasques, allows the SBM led by Jean-Luc Biamonti, the historic Societ de bains de Mer et cercles des trangers wanted by Prince Charles III in the 19th century to relaunch the tourist destiny of Monaco to rediscover the space on which the square unfolded until the Second World War.
By the way, from tomorrow to 19 at the Rocher Prince Albert is waiting for Cardinal Pietro Parolin. The occasion is the round anniversary (40 years) of the 1981 agreement that ensures the Vatican the choice of the bishops of Monaco (which was elevated to an archdiocese), albeit with the approval of the prince. And on the Piazza del Casin (where Celine Dion was supposed to sing a year ago, but the European tour was canceled due to the coronavirus) sings this year for the evening of the Monegasque Red Cross the music star Jamie Cullum, artist, pianist and British jazz-pop singer.
A few meters further on – the new “island” of Montecarlo is rising from the sea. Where, as Prince Albert II told Corriere, Gabriella will have a square of her own, the Place Princesse Gabriella and also her twin Jacques will have a street of her own: there will be a Promenade Prince Jacques. Un’siola – indeed peninsula in the final configuration – with the sign of the Italian star architect, Renzo Piano (like the new promenade of Monaco).
