Reddit Restores Services After Major Outage
Reddit has announced that it has “restored services” following a significant outage that affected the loading of posts and comments. The outage caused widespread disruptions for users, with some experiencing error messages or blank pages when trying to access content on the platform.
One user reported experiencing different issues, including the inability to see any posts or comments when logged out, and posts failing to load in specific subreddits when using a certain account. However, the user noted that they were able to browse the platform without issue when using an account with the old Reddit layout.
Reddit confirmed the issue in a post at 12:47PM ET, stating, “We’re investigating an issue that’s left many of our web and mobile platforms unavailable. Responders are working to restore service.” By 1:22PM ET, the company reported that it had identified the issue and was working to bring services back online.
Shortly after the initial announcement, Reddit began to see improvements in service. At 2:17PM ET, the company confirmed that services were largely restored and that steps would be taken to ensure a full, sustained recovery. However, the company did not immediately respond to requests for further comment.
The outage was disruptive for many Reddit users, but the platform has now largely returned to normal. This incident serves as a reminder of the potential for technical issues to impact internet services, and the importance of addressing and resolving such problems promptly.
