Redmi Note 12 5G series arrives in India without 210W charging

by time news

After multiple rounds of teasing, Xiaomi is finally the frontrunner of the Redmi Note 12 series in the Indian market. This time, we only have 5G phones. But this does not mean that the release of 4G in the future is not in the plans. Moving forward, today the brand introduced Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, and 12 Pro + 5G. They have the same name as the Chinese variants and most of the specifications are the same. As you can see, the Explorer version is not here. As a result, there is no 210W charging for the Indian market. Do other phones have enough qualities to withstand the competitive Indian market? Let’s find out.

Redmi Note 12 5G phone

The collection starts with the vanilla Note 12. It has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate with a punch-hole in the middle. Under the hood, the phone carries the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Contrary to previous rumors, the Redmi Note 12 5G retains the dual camera setup for the Indian market. We have a 48MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The selfie camera is an 8-megapixel camera.

The vanilla Redmi Note 12 5G comes with a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. The phone is missing NFC but retains audio jack 3.5, Bluetooth 5.1, and Dual-Band Wi-Fi. There is an IR Blaster in the phone, but no micro SD card slot. Yes, the end is near for mid-range phones with microSD cards. The fingerprint scanner is intact and doubles as a power button.

In India, vanilla comes in black and green. Pricing starts at INR 15,499 ($187) for the variant with 4GB/128GB. The higher-end 6GB/128GB model will set you back $210. Sales will start on January 11th. The smartphone will be sold across Mi.com, Amazon and retail outlets.

Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G

Next, we have the Redmi Note 12 Pro with the same design as the Chinese variant and the same specifications. It brings MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC with triple camera setup. There is a 50MP main camera, an 8MP depth sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor. There is a dual LED flash to help out in dark environments. For selfies, the smartphone brings a 16MP shooter.

In terms of display, we have the same size of 6.67 inches, but the smartphone has thinner bezels which results in a smaller size. Apart from that, it also has a 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. Redmi Note 12 Pro packs a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging. This device has NFC, IR Blaster, stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6, and a 3.5mm audio jack. However, there is still no micro SD card.

Redmi Note 12 Pro is sold in black, blue and pink colors. There are three configurations and three distinct pricing. The phone starts at INR 24,999 ($300) for the base 6GB/128GB model. There is also an 8GB / 128GB variant with INR 26,999 ($325) and INR 27,999 ($340) for the 8GB / 256GB option. Xiaomi will give away INR 3,000 ($37) to early birds on January 11. The smartphone is being sold through Mi.Com, Flipkart, and other local partners.

Redmi Note 12 Pro + 5G

Finally, we have the Redmi Note 12 Pro + variant with its 200MP camera. It is the first phone to hit the Indian market with Samsung’s ISOCELL HPX sensor. Along with this camera, we have an 8MP wide and 2MP sensor. Display specs are the same as the Pro variant, as well as a CPU and 5,000mAh battery. The difference is the camera and the 120W charging that comes with this unit. Fortunately, the charging adapter is included in the box.

Redmi Note 12 Pro +

Redmi Note 12 Pro+ sells for INR 25,999 ($315) for the base 8GB/256GB model. The 12GB/256GB device costs INR 28,999 ($350). The phone is available in black, white, and blue. Sales will start on January 11th.

Explorer and Speed Edition are missing

The Redmi Note 12 series has arrived in India with pomp. However, Redmi Note 12 Explorer with 210W charging and Redmi Note 12 Speed Edition with Snapdragon 778G are not available in India. At least not now. In the end, these phones could hit the market but we don’t know if they will keep the same name. According to the rumors, Note 12 with Snapdragon 778G may arrive in India and global markets as POCO X5 Pro 5G. For now, we can only wait.
