The elections in the DRC took place practically not without political tensions. Those of 2023 are no exception. After the vote on Wednesday, December 20, extended to Thursday or even Friday, some presidential candidates of the republic hit the table. They contest the quality of what they describe as a sham election and announce a “major demonstration” on Wednesday, December 27.

To do this, Martin Fayulu, Dénis Mukwege, Théodore Ngoy, Jean-Claude Baende and Nkema Liloo are in the process of canceling these elections in order to organize others with another Independent National Electoral Commission. This is not the first irregularity noted in this electoral process.

Thus, these candidates contacted Kinshasa city hall to notify the local authority of their intention to demonstrate. The march should start from the Boulevard Triomphe, opposite the Martyrs Stadium, heading towards the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) on the Boulevard du 30 Juin.

The first results of the presidential election were announced this Friday. They are those of the vote of the Congolese in the diaspora. 5 countries were concerned: South Africa, the United States, Canada, Belgium and France. It appears that the results go largely in favor of Félix Tshisekedi, outgoing president and candidate for his own succession.

It should be remembered that this same group of candidates filed, last November, a complaint with the constitutional court against the president of the CENI, Dénis Kadima; and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, Peter Kazadi. The latter were accused of “culpable abstention”. What the constitutional court declared unfounded.
