Energy crisis obliges, in Neufchâtel-en-Bray (Seine-Maritime), we are already organizing to be more economical this winter. Reportage.

In Neufchâtel-en-Bray (Seine-Maritime), the Christmas lights will undoubtedly be less sparkling this year. If the decorations are already partly installed, they will indeed not flicker as usual. To cope with increases in electricity prices, the municipality has made commitments. “We will favor the main street”explains Mayor Xavier Lefrançois.

“There will be a little less Christmas decorations in the adjacent streets. Quite simply because it is our duty to save money”, adds the aedile. Another decision, the illuminations will work from 6 p.m. and will turn off at midnight, so as not to work all night. Unlike electricity prices, the budget for Christmas lighting is down sharply. It was 20,000 euros, a few years ago. It is now estimated at 3,000 euros.
