Part of refund of ticket price for international flight passengers who change their first class travel Effective from 15th

DGCA, the aviation regulatory body, has received complaints that airlines are accommodating passengers who have booked first class travel in the next business or economy class.

Airlines attributed this to last-minute flight changes, overbooking, and poor seat service.

In this case, the central government has imposed a new rule that airlines should refund 30 to 75 percent of their ticket price including taxes if they change their first class journey.

This rule is dated Feb. The DGCA announced on Wednesday that it will come into effect from the 15th.

1,500 km. 30 percent for short-haul flight tickets, 1,500 to 3,500 km. 50 per cent refund for long-distance tickets and 75 per cent refund for tickets above 3,500 km, DGCA said.

Earlier, DGCA had said that if the travel class is changed without the passenger’s knowledge, the fare including taxes will be refunded in full and the passengers will be taken to the next class free of charge.
