Antonio Alvarez, candidate for the presidency of Barcelona Sporting Club, made statements where he referred to what the elections will be like in the ‘torero’ team and what he expects in the future for the institution.
In an interview with Caravana radio, Alvarez said: “We were able to provide a team that was on par with Barcelona, and the workers are calm. Regardless of who wins the elections, I feel that if I lose I would go to bed and say that I was there for a loved one like Barcelona. I won’t say that I fulfilled my duty, because I would like to continue doing things, I want to finish the High Performance Centre.”
On Diego López’s departure as coach of the team: “There are codes in life. What I discussed with Diego López will remain within those 4 walls. We had the courage to make a decision, knowing that there was a termination. The presidents who enter Barcelona must guarantee that their management is backed by a financial guarantee. Being president of this club is difficult. We have to work on the statutes.”
Then he mentioned: “We must work to ensure that Barcelona does not go into debt. Going into debt is not bad sometimes, because it often helps to invest. But you cannot go into debt too much, you have to set a percentage.”
