The autumn wave of the incidence of coronavirus infection COVID-19 in Russia has led to a sharp reduction in the number of vacant places in hospitals. Prime Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko said that the number of beds in medical institutions was “forced” to increase to 292 thousand places, but only 12% of them remain vacant. The newspaper “Kommersant” found out in which regions the most threatening situation is observed.

  • An extremely difficult situation is observed in Sevastopol, almost the entire bed fund is occupied by patients. As Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev said, the authorities are deploying a reserve of 200 beds, but “this is already the limit of capacity.” Every day in the city more than 300 people fall ill, die up to 15. The situation is complicated by an acute shortage of doctors: there are not enough specialists in the “red zones”, hospitals, clinics, ambulance teams and even call centers.
  • V Krasnodar Territory 1451 – 19% of the deployed 7.7 thousand beds are free.
  • V Stavropol Territory 4552 infectious beds are involved, about 8.7% of the fund is free. Resuscitation beds are 92.4% occupied. The authorities intend to deploy another 400 beds “in a short time”.
  • V Voronezh region 8128 beds have been deployed, of which 7304 – 90% are already occupied.
  • V Kursk region out of 2262 beds, 2122 – 93% are occupied. The authorities are ready to open another 50 beds at the local cancer center.
  • The governor Oryol region Andrei Klychkov announced on October 18 that there are no free beds for patients with covid in the region. Later, the situation improved: last week, officials spoke about 93 free beds out of 1963, 95% occupied.
  • V Ulyanovsk region 2912 beds have been deployed, 184 remain free, 94% occupied. Moreover, the two main covid hospitals of Ulyanovsk – the Central Clinical Medical and Sanitary Unit and the Central City Clinical Hospital – are completely filled.
  • V Trans-Baikal Territory 94.9% of beds are occupied, in ten specialized hospitals there are almost no places left, and the city clinical hospital No. 1 of Chita is overcrowded.
  • V Irkutsk region 5160 beds are deployed, 89% are occupied.
  • V Buryatia occupied 82.9% of the available beds.
  • V Sverdlovsk region 8% of beds are free.
  • V Tyumen region reported 12.2% free hospital beds.
  • V Perm Territory the share of free bed capacity is 15.4%. Regional Health Minister Anastasia Kruten said that “the number of patients is simply incredible,” so the authorities are considering the transfer of psychiatric and drug addiction beds under COVID.
