Praveen Mohta, Kanpur: The first action has been taken by the Regional Transport Office (RTO) of Banda in the case of the death of 18 people in a bus accident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Unnao on July 10. Under this, a letter has been sent to Lucknow headquarters to cancel the registration of 35 buses with Mahoba numbers.
RTO enforcement Udayveer Singh said that during investigation, 18 buses were found to be of a travel agency of Jodhpur. The remaining buses belonged to other people. The permanent address of all the buses whose registration will expire was outside the state, but they were registered on the basis of local addresses of Mahoba.
Action taken after expiry of notice period
RTO enforcement said that based on the investigation after the accident, notices were sent to the owners of all such buses and a reply was sought. After the period for responding to the notice was over, a written recommendation to cancel the registration of all 35 buses has been sent to the headquarters. Technically, the RTO does not have the right to cancel registration.

During investigation, it was also found that the bus of Unnao accident was registered in Mahoba Transport Office at the address of (C/O) Pushpendra Singh Mawai Khurd, Khanna, Mahoba by KC Jain Travels of Jodhpur. When Pushpendra was talked to on mobile, he told that he used to work in KC Jain Travels, but after Jain died of corona, Pushpendra left the job. After this he was doing farming. Pushpendra provided the mobile number of a person named Sohan. Sohan was a partner of KC Jain. Sohan was operating buses. Sohan told on the phone that this sleeper bus is operated by Chandan Jaiswal from Paharganj, Delhi. Finally, 18 buses were received in the name of the travel agency.
Fitness or insurance
The registration, insurance, permit, fitness and pollution certificate of the double-decker bus that became a death knell for passengers in Unnao had expired. The ARTO of Unnao had filed an FIR after the accident.
