Registration open for the 2nd Corpus Christi Photographic Contest

Corpus Christi in Curitiba in 2024 has everything to be the biggest! That is why the Communication Commission of the Archdiocese of Curitiba launches the 2nd Corpus Christi Photographic Competition, open to the participation of all Catholic faithful.

Catholic photography plays an important role in the catechesis of God’s people. It documents the history of the Church’s journey, visually recording important events of faith, allowing the faithful to remember and study these historical moments. It also inspires and motivates Catholics when an image is powerful and meaningful. Religious photography communicates important messages by providing a visual and impactful way to announce the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in addition to being an art form with its beauty, technique and expression.

The objective of this competition is to document the Solemnity of the Blessed Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), in the Archdiocese of Curitiba, to show the faith of the faithful, as well as the creativity of parish communities in making the traditional carpet and encourage, recognize and evangelize with photography.

Registration is open until May 24th, covering the following categories:

. There are 4 (four) categories. Being them: Portraits, Religious Elements, Vocation and Carpet.

Portraits: images that show the devotion of the people present at the event, such as prayer gestures, meaningful looks, etc.

Religious Elements: decorated altar, sacred symbols, icons and images of saints that are part of the Corpus Christi celebrations.

Vocation: priests, men and women religious, families, lay people at the service of the Gospel such as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, pastoral workers, etc.

Mat: portray the elaborate carpets made with flowers, colored sawdust, sand and other materials created to decorate the path along which the procession will pass.

Each participant can register in as many categories as they wish. This way, you can participate with up to four photos, one for each category.

Contest schedule

– April 22: approval of the regulation

– May 2: start of publicity and registration of interested photographers;

– May 24: registration closes;

– May 30: Corpus Christi, day of photo capture;

– June 12: deadline for submitting photos;

– June 20: jury meeting to select the 40 photos (10 from each theme), the best photo in each category and the best photo overall;

– June 23: start of popular voting to choose the best in each category and the best overall;

– August 1: end of popular voting;

– August 15: opening of the exhibition and announcement of the winning photos.
