Registration open for the Encounters Film Festival, which takes place between the 27th and 30th of September. Short films submitted must be up to 40 minutes long, completed after January 1, 2023 and do not need to be new. Registration via site.
The International Competition is an official gateway to the prestigious Oscar, BAFTA and European Film Awards.
Awards
International Competition: The films, in the categories of live action, animation, documentary, experimental/film works by artists, compete for the Brief Encounters Grand Prix for live-action and Animated Encounters Grand Prix for animation. The winners are eligible for Oscar nominations, each receiving £2,000, and compete for the Audience Award.
Registration Rules and Deadlines:
- Deadlines: March 27, 2024 (Regular), May 8, 2024 (Late), May 22, 2024 (Final), May 29, 2024 (Final for UK Students).
- All registrations are final, no refunds.
- They accept short films of all techniques, up to 40 minutes.
- Films completed after January 1, 2023 are eligible.
- No premiere status required, including online.
- Previously submitted films are ineligible unless withdrawn prior to program announcement or at the discretion of the festival.
