Nurul Haque Noor’s party Ganodhikar Parishad has been registered by the Election Commission (EC) as a political party. The team got ‘Truck’ as its symbol.
This information was given in a notification signed by EC Secretary Shafiul Azam on Monday (September 2).
The Election Commission of Bangladesh has registered the People’s Rights Council (GOP) as a political party, with its head office at Al Razi Complex (3rd Floor), Vijaynagar, Purana Paltan, Dhaka-1000, until further orders, the notification said.
It was informed that the truck symbol has been reserved for that team. The registration number of the team is 051.
Earlier on Wednesday (August 28) the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal gave a seven-day ultimatum to the Election Commission to register as a political party. The president of the party Nurul Haque Noor demanded to reconsider their application and register the party within this period.
In 2018, Nurul Haque, who led the quota reform movement, was elected as the VP of the Dhaka University Students’ Union (DACSU) under the banner of Noor Chhatra Adhikar Parishad. The People’s Rights Council made its debut under his leadership in October 2021.
