Registration tax collection grows by 5.7%

The collection of stamp duty in the first eleven months of the year reached 698.99 million euros, 5.7% more than in the same period of the previous year, when the figure had risen to approximately 661.27 million euros, according to data published Tuesday by the Revenue Agency.

The average price (including taxes) that Spanish consumers paid to buy their car in November was 23,228 euros, which represents a reduction of 0.66%, or a difference of 156 euros, compared to the same month of the previous year.

Between the months of January and November this year, the average vehicle price, however, increases by 0.36% to 23,704 euros, a difference of 86 euros compared to the same period last year.

As regards the month of November alone, the collection of the registration tax increased by 9.26% on an annual basis, amounting to 76.74 million euros, compared to the 70.23 million which entered the public coffers in the eleventh month of 2023.

In November, passenger car registrations grew by 6.42% year-on-year, when 83,339 units were delivered, while in the cumulative total of 2024, 867,590 units were sold, 5.1% more than in the same period of previous year, according to data from the Spanish Association of Car and Truck Manufacturers (Anfac).

The average payment of this tax was 745 euros in November, which represents an increase of 2 euros compared to the same month the previous year. In the eleven months of 2024 the average compensation was 742 euros, approximately 5 euros more than in the same period of 2023.

Vehicle emissions, for their part, have been 118 grams of carbon dioxide (CO2) per kilometer so far this year, the same figure recorded for the same period in 2023.

Finally, the overall value of vehicles purchased reached 2,316.64 million euros in November, 8.18% more on an annual basis, and 21,643.16 million in the eleven months of 2024 as a whole, 5.39 % more.
