The action, which will be carried out through Adif, has a bidding budget of 7.1 million euros, VAT included, and will contribute to the conservation and durability of the structure and its elements in the long term. Thus, in addition, the reliability of the railway circulations when passing through this infrastructure will be increased.

The Martín Gil viaduct crosses the Ricobayo Reservoir (Esla River) and, at the time of its construction, between the years 1930 and 1940, it was the largest concrete arch in the world. It has a free span of 192.40 metres, a theoretical span of 209.8 meters and a shaft of 63 metres. Its length is 481 meters, and it was a great construction challenge due to the abrupt orography of the area and the light that saves.

Track and rail lift

Among the actions that will be carried out in this rehabilitation, the elevation of the track and the rail for the waterproofing of the deck, including the gutters and the vertical walls of the walls; the provision of metal sheets covering joints for the outlet of water accumulated on the platform and execution of drains every meter; the sanitation of metallic profiles and application of a corrosion inhibitor on the reinforced concrete surface of the structure; the replacement of ashlars or masonry; the removal of vegetation and general cleaning of the walls of the structure with a jet of water under pressure.
