The 20th round of the French league was closed today (Sunday), with Paris Saint-Germain with a second game in a row in the league without a win when they parted in a dramatic 1:1 against Reims who equalized in the 96th minute.
The opening belonged entirely to the visitor who pressed high and had excellent opportunities, but the misses of Junia Ito and Florian Bellogun denied the advantage from the reds to the whites. Christophe Galtier’s side looked poor as they played at a low tempo with a lot of turnovers and inaccuracy up front with Kylian Mbappe, Leo Messi and Neymar failing to create chances.
The second half was better for the champion. Paris picked up the pace while the red and whites went back a little and stopped pressing high. In the 52nd minute, Neymar found the net after a mess in Reims’ defense. Marco Verratti, who came on as a half-time substitute, was sent off with a justified straight red after a blatant tackle on Eto’o’s ankle. The reds and whites did not give up and in the last second of the game a serious mistake in the champion’s defense gave Bluegon a chance to do justice when he passed Donnarumma and established a distribution of points. Galtier’s group lost an opportunity to increase the gap at the top to five points while on the other hand, Reims with a 12th game in a row without a loss.
