Will Still’s Reims went on to a 19th match without defeat by winning in Monaco (1-0). The Monegasques see the podium moving away and are in doubt.
Is Will Still invincible? One thing is certain, Monaco was too slow to bend Reims this Sunday. Abused from the start of the match by the confident Rémois, the Monegasques once again lost points in their fight for the podium with this defeat (1-0). Present from the start in the duels and the intensity, the men of Will Still showed that they could compete with the teams better ranked in the standings.
Despite flagrant domination, it was the Rémois who conceded the most dangerous chances. At first, Ben Yedder twice failed to open the scoring, notably hitting the post with a left-footed lob (30′). Back from the locker room, with better intentions, ASM and Vanderson again got two big chances. But the Brazilian also saw one of his attempts hit the post (50′).
Reims continues on its way
A lack of efficiency that Balogun was happy to punish, taking advantage of a good service from Alexis Flips and a handball error from Nubel, to score the only goal of the match (51 ‘). A deserved opener as Reims were able to find the weak points of their evening opponent, relying in particular on the speed of Balogun behind the two Monegasque central defenders. After this goal, the Monegasques struggled to destabilize the opposing defense and each time fell on a solid Yehvann Diouf in goal, or a Rémois defender. With this defeat, Monaco leaves Lens at three lengths and could see Marseille take a 7-point lead in the event of success against Strasbourg this Sunday evening (9:00 p.m.). For its part, Reims continues its excellent series (19 games without defeat) and returns to four points behind Rennes and 5th place, synonymous with the European Cup.
