Reinforcement for the Hawks: Jonetta Marie joins Atlanta

by time news

An interesting first big deal tonight (Wednesday through Thursday), in the NBA. Jonata Marie, the talented San Antonio guard who has played for the team since 2016, then selected 29th in the draft, leaves the Spurs and joins the Atlanta Hawks, where he will collaborate with Trey Young.

The Spurs, who appear to be rebuilding, will get three first-round picks and a change of election order in another year. The choices the Spurs get: of Charlotte 2023, of the Hawks in 2025 and 2027 and also a possible change of position in 2026.

Marie, who in his second season in the league was selected to the second defensive five of the season, was seriously injured in October 2018 when he tore his knee ligament, and missed an entire season. In 2019 he extended his contract at San Antonio by 4 years, and last season in which he played 68 games, averaged 21.1 points per game, 9.2 assists and 8.3 rebounds.
