Reinforcement of accessibility at the Girona stations of Fornells de la Selva and Celr

New underpasses will be built between platforms to eliminate the current crossings at the same level

The project will condition the facilities for the universal use of travelers and adapt them to the transit of people with reduced mobility, eliminating architectural barriers and creating new, more modern and inclusive spaces. Likewise, crossings of tracks at the same level between platforms will be eliminated, improving safety conditions, while increasing service quality levels.

Extension of platforms

At both stations, a new underpass will be built between platforms, equipped with elevators and fixed stairs, and the platforms will be extended to 210 meters, increasing their height to 68 centimeters above the rail level. New paving will also be carried out on the platforms, including the adaptation of the platform edge, formed by an ‘L’-shaped concrete piece, button marking pavement and yellow warning strip.

In addition, new canopies will be built in the waiting areas of the platforms and the mouths of the future underpasses to increase user comfort. Likewise, new sanitation, electricity, lighting, civil protection and security and closed-circuit television facilities, among other works, are planned.

The works at the Fornells de la Selva station will be carried out by the construction company Copcisa for 3.9 million euros; while Copisa will be responsible for the work at the Celr station, for an amount of 4.6 million euros.
