jpnn.com – Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the National Awakening Party (PKB) faction, Luqman Hakim, was one of the legislators who was not present at the Plenary Meeting at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (22/8) with the agenda of ratifying the Regional Election Bill.

“I decided not to attend the DPR RI Plenary Meeting held today with the agenda of taking a decision to ratify the Pilkada Bill,” said Luqman via messaging service, Thursday.

He said his absence from the Plenary Meeting was not a technical matter, but rather a personal attitude of rejecting the Regional Election Bill.

Because, Luqman believes that the method of ratifying the Pilkada Bill violates the rules without involving public participation and ignoring the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK).

“The manifestation of my attitude of rejecting the discussion and ratification of the revision of the Regional Election Law in a flash manner, without space for public participation, is counter-democratic and against the constitution by ignoring the substance of the Constitutional Court’s Decision,” he continued.

Luqman Hakim admitted that he would be in the position of fellow students, journalists, academics, and activists who unanimously rejected the ratification of the Pilkada Bill.

“All Indonesian people today take a stand and act against the rulers’ engineering to rob the constitution in order to perpetuate their power,” he said.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad previously decided that parliament would not ratify the Regional Election Bill in the Plenary Meeting on Thursday.

Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the National Awakening Party (PKB) faction, Luqman Hakim, took a stance to reject the ratification of the Pilkada Bill. He was also absent from the plenary session.
