Good news for foreign workers working in Canada. Relatives of foreigners including Indians working in Canada can now apply for work in the country. Canada has announced that relatives of foreigners with Open Work Permits (OWP) will be eligible for work permits. The permission will come into effect from next year. The new announcement follows the labor shortage.

Foreign nationals with OWP are allowed to work in Canada with any employer. Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Sean Fraser announced that it will come into effect next year. According to this, spouses and children of open visa holders can also get jobs. Earlier, spouses were eligible for work permits only if the applicants worked in highly skilled occupations.

With the significant change, more than 200,000 family members will find employment in Canada. Temporary permission will be granted for two years.
