Release Date and Updates for Paramount’s “Smile” Sequel announced for Halloween Season 2024

Paramount Studios Sets Release Dates for “Smile” Sequel and “Mean Girls” Musical Adaptation

Paramount Studios has just announced the release dates for two highly anticipated projects: the sequel to the horror hit “Smile” and the musical adaptation of “Mean Girls.” The studio is hoping to bring smiles to audiences’ faces as they prepare for the Halloween season in 2024.

The untitled sequel to “Smile” is scheduled to hit theaters on October 18, 2024. The original film, released in 2022, was considered one of the most profitable movies of the year, earning a whopping $216 million globally on a modest $17 million budget. Filmmaker Parker Finn, who directed the surprise hit, signed a first-look deal with Paramount following its success.

Originally intended for streaming, “Smile” was upgraded to a theatrical release after a successful test screening. Finn expressed his gratitude to Paramount for recognizing the film’s potential and getting behind it in an incredible way. He stated, “The audience was screaming at the screen, so it was very clear that the communal environment and nature of it was incredible.”

In addition to the “Smile” sequel, Paramount also set a release date for the musical adaptation of “Mean Girls.” The film, starring Angourie Rice, Auli’i Cravalho, Jaquel Spivey, and Reneé Rapp, will hit theaters on January 12, 2024. Originally intended for Paramount+, the decision was made to move the film to a theatrical release. “Mean Girls” was originally a 2004 film starring Lindsay Lohan, which later inspired a successful Broadway musical.

Paramount also made changes to the release plans for the animated film “Tiger’s Apprentice.” The film, which features the voices of Henry Golding, Sandra Oh, and Michelle Yeoh, was initially intended for a theatrical release but will now premiere on Paramount+.

In a minor adjustment, the studio pushed back the release date for “Bob Marley: One Love” by one month to February 14, 2024. The film, starring Kingsley Ben-Adir as the late music icon, is highly anticipated among fans.

With these exciting projects on the horizon, Paramount Studios is aiming to captivate audiences and provide an unforgettable movie experience in the coming years. Fans eagerly await the release of the “Smile” sequel and the much-anticipated “Mean Girls” musical adaptation.
