The Water Board has come up with a new mechanism to address the problem of contacting authorities for complaints related to drinking water and sewage in Chennai. According to this system of complaint through ‘QR line’ has been introduced.

The Chennai Drinking Water Board distributes 100 crore liters of drinking water daily through pipelines and trucks in 15 zones. Although there is only one source of drinking water from lakes, the sea water desalination project is meeting Chennai’s drinking water needs without shortage.

In Chennai, there are 7.82 lakh drinking water connections. For drinking water and waste water complaints, complaints can be made to respective Ward Water Board Engineers and Area Engineers. To report from home, contact 044 – 4567 4567. In this, there are 20 links. Or contact the toll free number ‘1916’ and lodge a complaint. Also, you can report through the website www.chennaimetrowater.tn.gov.in.

For public complaints, the complaint registration number will be sent as an SMS to the mobile phone. Also, the concerned Ward Assistant Engineer will be informed about the complaint.
After rectification of complaints or solution of problem, Assistant Engineer should report to control room. Again from the control room, the complainant will be contacted, the action details will be given and after approval, the complaint will be closed.
