“Relevant” Broadcasting Platform: A New Player in the Field of Online Media Channels

by time news

“Relevant” – the new broadcasting platform that has been in the works for months – has finally gone live this week, providing a different kind of match to commercial channels and news websites. The platform, available through smartphones, smart TVs, or home computers, aims to establish a new online media channel with a focus on current affairs and a more liberal, activist perspective.

The brainchild of businessman Nir Tsuk, media veteran Modi Friedman, and comedian Lior Shlain, “Relevant” faced challenges in its setup as the onset of war forced a shift in programming and format. This resulted in a relatively thin format, heavy on current affairs and news-based content. The channel’s launch featured shows like “There is No Limit”, “Macro”, “The Human Mani”, “Pandora”, and “To Be Honest”, among others, each tackling different aspects of current events.

Though the initial programming displayed high quality, there was a noticeable absence of a central figure or leading character to anchor the channel and appeal to a broad audience. While the return of comedian Lior Shlain with “Team Shlain” and the planned appearance of Tiktok activist Daniel Amram were meant to fill this void, both fell short of expectations.

Furthermore, “Relevant” seemed to struggle with breaking away from the news cycle, focusing primarily on current affairs with only one program deviating from this theme. Despite this, the platform’s unabashedly liberal and alternative approach has set it apart from mainstream news broadcasts.

As “Relevant” is still in its trial phase and faces the ongoing war context, there is potential for growth and improvement. The platform’s deeper pockets, high-quality production, and different ambition have generated interest and anticipation. While the initial launch may not have been flawless, “Relevant” has the potential to become a significant player in the media landscape, offering a fresh voice and perspective amidst the never-ending loop of mainstream news channels.
