Jaipur: Cases of religious conversion are coming to light every day in Rajasthan. Recently, there were allegations of religious conversion in a prayer meeting being held in the Regar colony of Chaumu town near Jaipur. When the local people created a ruckus, the Chaumu police reached the spot. The police removed more than 50 men and women from the prayer meeting and chased away the person who had come to conduct the prayer. Allegations of religious conversion are made many times, but is religious conversion really happening in Rajasthan? Babulal Kharari, cabinet minister of Bhajanlal government, says that religious conversion is happening in tribal areas. He said that poor tribals are being misled and converted in the name of education, employment and medical treatment. This is a matter of great concern.
Conversion is a big matter of concern – Kharari
Cabinet Minister Babulal Kharari was on a visit to Dungarpur on Sunday, 14 July. He is also the minister in charge of Dungarpur district. He held a meeting with officials for the implementation of budget announcements. After the meeting, he met the media. While talking to the media, he said that religious conversion is a matter of great concern. We will also have to think why this happens.
The cabinet minister further said that in the name of education, employment and medical treatment, some people are misleading the poor tribals and converting them. He also said that after converting, the person is no longer a tribal, hence he is not entitled to any benefit including ST reservation. People who convert should not get the benefit of tribal reservation. Kharari said that a list of such people of the tribal society will be made and the benefit of reservation will be taken away from them.
Minister should stop doing politics on tribals – Rota
After Cabinet Minister Babulal Kharari gave a statement on the issue of conversion, Banswara Dungarpur MP Rajkumar Roat also issued a statement. Roat asked Minister Babulal Kharari to stop playing politics on the conversion of tribals. Roat said that no one can convert tribals. Tribals are just tribals. They are neither Hindus nor Christians.
In such a situation, people of the tribal community should not be mislead. If the BJP government wants to delist, then it should delist everyone. The tribal community has its own religious system. People of the tribal community do not believe in man-made religion.
