Remand prison launches in-house TV channel hosted by prisoners

by time news

Waited for two years, the project was finally able to succeed, Tuesday, with the first broadcast of the E-Public channel. This channel, internal to the Nanterre remand center (Hauts-de-Seine), is managed by two prisoners, reports The Parisian. There is also the presence of ambassadors who carry the voice of their respective bloc during editorial conferences which take place every six weeks.

Six daily programs

Led by the establishment and the Eyes of Hearing association, the project has a cost: 80,000 euros. For a small fee, the two prisoners prepared six programs broadcast daily for three weeks. Its scope even goes beyond the Nanterre remand center, since those of Villepinte (Seine-Saint-Denis) and Health in Paris also have access to it.

Delayed in particular because of security criteria, the launch of the channel responded to “particularly glaring needs since the health crisis”, confided the director of the Prison Service for Integration and Probation of Hauts-de-Seine, Laurent Ludowicz. Among the programs, we find for example the program Pins which will inform detainees about their access to the law, news, possible training or even the elements to know when they enter or leave prison.
