Remco Evenepoel puts on a show at the Figueira Champions Classic – Cycling

Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step) won this Saturday the second edition of the Figueira Champions Classic, after a solo attack more than 50 km from the end of the stage. The star dominated the classic, winning 1.48 minutes ahead of compatriot Vito Braet (Intermarché) and Italian Simone Velasco (Astana). Rúben Guerreiro (Movistar) was the best Portuguese, finishing in 9th place, while António Morgado was 15th.

Remco Evenpoel succeeds Danish Casper Pedersen, also from Soudal Quick-Step, in the winners’ list, who last year won the inaugural edition of the race which this season was promoted to the UCI ProSeries category, the second most important on the international calendar.
