Today (Sunday) marks the 96th anniversary of the death of Aharon Shloush, founder of the Neve Tzedek neighborhood in Tel Aviv, the first neighborhood outside the walls of Jaffa. Judith Grisero spoke on 103fm with Tomer Shloush, Aharon’s great-grandson and a tour guide in the neighborhood in question, who participated in his work. According to him, “Aharon Shloush was one of the most important figures in the history of Zionism, without knowing that it was called Zionism. He came here as a representative of the Zero Aliyah from North Africa – an Aliyah that didn’t quite make it into the history books.”
