Actor Carl Weathers, best remembered for his role as Apollo Creed in the “Rocky” film series, passed away at the age of 76. In the first films, Creed was Rocky’s arch-rival (played by Sylvester Stallone) but later became his friend. In the fourth film, Creed’s character dies in a battle with Ivan Drago.

Besides his role in “Rocky”, Weathers is also remembered for his roles in “The Predator” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and “Happy Gilmore” starring Adam Sandler. He also starred in nine episodes of the successful series “The Mandalorian” from the “Star Wars” franchise, which aired on Disney Plus. For his role in the series, he was nominated for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama.

Weathers was born in 1948 in New Orleans. During his career that spanned 50 years, he starred in over 80 films and series.
