On Friday, September 6, Gloria Espinosa, the 49-year-old woman who moved all of Colombia, passed away. The woman from Barranquilla had gone viral in recent weeks because, aware of her prognosis, she had decided to advance the celebration of her birthday, knowing that the doctors had given her just a few days to live due to her delicate health condition.
The case of Gloria Espinosa
“I have a few weeks left here with you (don’t tell me that the last word belongs to God) because I know very well that this is His last word, because God and life have been benevolent and accommodating with me. I asked for quality of life and to this day I have had it; I asked that the day the pain starts, it would be my time to leave, and so it has been,” was one of the messages she had posted on her social media.

Espinosa was a business administrator and after 12 years tried to enjoy life to its fullest. “Today I am blessed because I have the opportunity to leave things organized, to share these days with the people I love. May my wishes come true the day I leave,” she indicated in a testimony that was also compiled by El Tiempo newspaper.
Without a doubt, all her wishes came true on June 27, when she celebrated her last birthday – the 50th – ahead of time, to share it with her family and friends. According to reports, Gloria had time for all her guests to leave with a precious memory.

In light of this situation, her husband confirmed on September 7 through an Instagram story posted on the account @invisible_1974 that his wife had passed away.
“First of all, I want to clarify that I am not Invisible; I am her husband and I am here for the first and only time that she left this world surrounded by love and incredible peace. She left my heart full with her permanent presence, and that is why I am here today in front of you all to thank each and every one of her followers for making her feel so happy during the time she shared with you,” his message stated in one of the highlighted stories on Instagram.

What type of cancer did Gloria Espinosa have?
In 2012, the woman from Barranquilla had a myxoid liposarcoma, a very rare type of cancer that is generated in the cells that store fat in the body. According to the Cancer Institute’s Oncology Research Center in the United States, this disease typically manifests in the arms and legs, although tumors can spread throughout the body.
For many years, accompanied by medical treatment, she had no issues until 2020 when her condition worsened despite having undergone several chemotherapy sessions.
