Beloved Educator Rabbi Shmuel Moshe Hakohen Benjamin Passes Away

On Shabbos, 5 Kislev, 5784, the community suffered a great loss with the passing of Rabbi Shmuel Moshe Hakohen Benjamin, a devoted and beloved educator to hundreds of students for the past 25 years. Rabbi Benjamin, 57, left an indelible mark on the lives of the many students he taught throughout his career.

For a quarter of a century, Rabbi Benjamin served as a devoted Mechanech of Oholei Torah Pre1A, educating and inspiring countless Talmidim and laying the foundation of a love for Yiddishkeit and strong moral values. Despite his own health challenges, Rabbi Benjamin consistently showed unparalleled dedication to his students, ensuring they had the tools needed for success in their subsequent years of Chinuch.

Rabbi Benjamin’s passion for education extended beyond the classroom as he maintained connections with many of his former students, cherishing each and every one of them. His impact was felt not only in the classroom but in the lives of those he taught, fostering a deep and enduring connection with his students long after they had left his care.

In addition to his work in education, Rabbi Benjamin ardently supported his wife, Devorah, in her role at Keren Simchas Chosson V’Kalla, an organization that provides necessary funds and support for Chassanim and Kallahs. He stood by her side with unwavering encouragement and support, exemplifying his dedication to bettering the lives of others.

Originally from Sydney, Australia, Rabbi Benjamin’s influence and impact were felt not only in his home country but also in Eretz Yisrael, Melbourne, and 770. He is survived by his wife Devorah, children Chaya and Yosef, his parents Avigdor Chaim and Freida Rachel, his brothers Jonathan and Adam, as well as his in-laws, Pinchas and Mina Gold.
