To become law, the bill must be passed by Congress, which controls Peru’s opposition. The majority of MPs are conservative, so the question is whether this will work. This is not the first time politicians have discussed the move. In 2018, Congress urged the inclusion of chemical castration as a penalty for violators of children under 14 years of age. However, it is noteworthy that the proposal was not implemented.
