An underpass will be executed under you go at an intermediate point between the two current level crossings
Adif will allocate more than 8 million euros to the suppression of two level crossings located at kilometer points 361/620 and 361/845 of the conventional gauge line León-La Corua, in the vicinity of the Monforte de Lemos station, direction Lugo.

The solution to eliminate the crossings consists in executing an underpass at an intermediate point between the two, between Río Seco and Juan Montes streets. To do this, the structure -a reinforced concrete box- will be pushed under the tracks, minimizing the impact on railway operation. As it is a point below street level, the pass will have a well or pumping box with two pumps for the evacuation of water. In addition, vertical and horizontal signaling elements and containment systems will be installed on the edges.
The project includes the construction of two new roads: one East-West, between Juan Montes and Río Seco streets, and another North-South, which will join these streets. The underpass will have a road with side roads on the surface to give continuity to the sides of Padre Feijo street, parallel to the railway.

The connection of the new East-West axis with Calle Morón will fork to also connect with Calle Juan Montes, in order to relieve congestion at the intersection of these two streets with Calle Ramón Cabanilles and so that the movements coming from Calle Ferrocarril do not need to access Morn to cross the underpass. All the proposed new roads are planned to be bidirectional, with sidewalks on both sides, except for the side roads of the pass, which will be unidirectional.
These works are part of the renovation work on the 117 kilometer Orense-Monforte de Lemos-Lugo section, which connects Orense with the high-speed corridor to Galicia, to improve its parameters of reliability, comfort and travel times.
