The Minister of the Sea has contracted by emergency procedure the withdrawal and destruction of the cages of Isidro de la Cal that were abandoned in Sada. It was decided to opt for this solution given the danger that the floating infrastructures that were used for bream farming would continue to fall off and seriously affect the safety of navigation and people, the department said. The report carried out to anticipate the arrival of bad weather certified the serious deterioration of the structures and especially of the shackles and chains that hold them to the bottom, which are only at 5% of their useful life.

The emergency action has been awarded to the Gestiones de Seguridad y Emergencies company, which plans to begin the work this week and won with a budget greater than 210,000 euros and 40 days of execution.

In summer

The situation of abandonment was evident on June 26. That day I arrived at cirro beach, in the Sadense parish of Veigue, one of the largest cages that had broken loose from its anchors and drifted until it ended up in the sandy area. A small but busy cove, in which there is almost no room for the facility and which has provoked numerous protests from beachgoers, due to the nuisance and lack of security with a mass at the mercy of the waves when the tide rises.
