When it comes to tackles in politics, artificial intelligence is an increasingly used tool. This time, it was Loïc Signor, spokesperson for the Renaissance party, who used it. On X (formerly Twitter), he shared a video that hijacks Marine Le Pen’s happy new year wishes, reports BFMTV. The latter went from French to Russian. The video ends with a tackle: “The speech is smoothed but the accent remains”.

The former CNews journalist published the images accompanied by a sentence: “AI is even scarier when it gets closer to reality. Find Marine Poutine’s wishes.” A way of highlighting the relationship between the far-right party and Russia.

Weakening France’s support for Ukraine

This publication echoes an investigation by Washington Post which reveals that Russia would seek to weaken France’s support for Ukraine, while the conflict between the two countries still rages. According to the American media, fake accounts are used on social networks to publish language used by Vladimir Putin.

For example: the fact that France does not have to pay for such a conflict or that the economic sanctions imposed on Moscow would first penalize France. Arguments often put forward by leaders of the National Rally. According to Washington Post, which reports figures from the cybersecurity company Alto Intelligence, pro-Russian accounts became very active during the riots that shook France after Nahel’s death.

A cabal according to the RN

The American media reports that 1.22% of users produced 30.6% of the comments on the riots on social networks. And 24.2% of the most prolific accounts would include pro-Russian messages in their comments. The majority of these accounts would be aligned with far-right leaders, such as Marine Le Pen or Eric Zemmour.

The National Rally was quick to react to this investigation. The far-right party denounced a cabal this Tuesday. Laurent Jacobelli, the party’s spokesperson, assured that there was “no link” between Russia and the political group.
