Renault Group Appoints Philippe Krief as Chief Technology Officer, Bringing Extensive Experience to Lead Innovation

Renault Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Philippe Krief as Renault Group Chief Technology Officer from 1 September, alongside his current duties at the Alpine brand. He will succeed Gilles Le Borgne, who has been appointed to a strategic advisory role to the CEO.

As Chief Technology Officer of the Renault Group, reporting to CEO Luca de Meo, Philippe Krief will lead all technical activities and resources of the group. He can draw on his extensive experience in this area, particularly his work as Director of Engineering at Ferrari.

Philippe Krief’s task will be to lead and shape a forward-looking and, above all, creative team, recognizing the innovations and products of tomorrow, with the central challenge of the next “smart” vehicles developed in record time and ahead of the. competition

As Alpine CEO, Philippe Krief has dedicated the last 12 months to the implementation of the brand strategy and the introduction of the new Alpine vehicle range, which will notably include the A290 and the upcoming GT crossover. With it, the brand has also accelerated the development of its next platform, dedicated to 100% high-performance electric vehicles. At his suggestion, Alpine switched to hydrogen power with the Alpenglow Hy4 prototype, a true demonstrator of innovative hydrogen engine technology.

Philippe Krief, a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Advanced, has worked on a wide range of models, from B segment to multi-million euro vehicles. After joining Michelin, he continued his career in the Fiat Group before moving to Ferrari and then to Maserati, where he was Head of the Vehicle Department and Technical Director of the Alfa Romeo brand, respectively. In June 2016, Philippe Krief returned to Ferrari and took on the role of Director of Engineering. On February 21, 2023, he was named Director of Engineering and Product Performance for the Alpine brand before becoming CEO.
