The first quarter of the year starts with very positive data for Renault, which registers significant increases in both its sales and its turnover worldwide and in Europe.

The company has just announced that it has registered a turnover of 11,500 million euros in the first quarter, a figure 29.9% higher than that of the same period of 2022, so after the results of the first three months of the year, it has confirmed its financial targets for 2023.

The company’s worldwide sales reached 535,000 vehicles in the first quarter, representing an increase of 14.1% compared to the same period in 2022. In Europe, group sales increased by 27.3%, above growth of the market (+16.2%).

Total sales amount to 355,000 Renault brand vehicles worldwide, 8.6% more, and 172,000 Dacia brand vehicles, with an increase of 34.3% compared to sales in the same period of 2022. The number of electric passenger cars sold in Europe in this quarter also stands out, growing by 24% compared to 2022. Dacia registered an increase in sales of 41% in the first quarter, reaching nearly 150,000 units in Europe.

The firm is satisfied with the success of the renewal of its range, with the Arkana, Megane E-Tech Electric and Austral models for the Renault and Dacia Jogger brands.

The electrified range (electric and hybrid) now represents 38% of Renault passenger car sales in Europe in the first quarter of 2023, compared to a market average of 34%.

Hybrid vehicles (HEV) posted strong quarterly growth, with sales up 42% to 38,400 units. This technology, very popular among private customers, represented 60% of Arkana’s sales and 67% of Austral’s.

Renault electric vehicle registrations in Europe increased by 15% to reach 20,000 units. 100% electric Megane E-Tech, which will go on sale in 2023, registered more than 11,000 sales in the first three months.

In the C segment, Renault sales in Europe increased by 51%, exceeding 62,000 registrations. In addition to the 100% electric Megane E-Tech, Arkana’s results continue with more than 18,500 sales in the first quarter of 2023. The launch of Austral continues successfully with 15,500 registrations in the first quarter of 2023 and 22,400 units sold since its launch in November 2022.

In a context in which the offer remains limited, Renault has reached its sales target for individuals and has maintained it at an optimal level, with more than one vehicle in two sold to individuals. Sales to individuals reached 54% in the first quarter of 2023, 10 points more than the market average (44%).
