After four generations that have seen it equipped with the internal combustion engine, Megan it becomes E-Tech: 100% electric propulsion. A modern car, at the forefront from the point of view of software, construction innovations and safety. For the first time, for example, a car is designed to allow, in case of need, direct access to battery by the fire brigade and the extinguishing of a possible start of fire in just 5 minutes: a switch to isolate the electrical system and a union housed in the boot to allow the accumulators to be flooded.
With the Renault Mégane E-Tech, the Renault Group, the first manufacturer to believe in electric mobility, makes a great leap forward both in technology and in the industrial system that produces it and accompanies it throughout its life cycle. A logical step for the realization of the Renaulution strategic plan, illustrated by the CEO Luca De Meo.
Inspired by the concept-car Morphoz of 2019 and anticipated by the show-car Mégane eVision of 2020, the new C-segment electric car is based on the CMF-EV platform developed by the Renault-Nissan Alliance, and is optimized with the latest evolution of batteries, powertrain and control systems.
The CMF-EV platform in fact, it offers a reduced engine compartment, and for the first time, the climate control unit located in the front compartment instead of in the passenger compartment. Such base construction, thanks to its revolutionary technologies and higher capacity batteries, offers the possibility of increasing the energy efficiency and autonomy of the electric vehicle by reducing charging.
Also there dynamicity, according to the statements of the French engineers, it is accentuated: the credit goes to chassis, at the steering and al center of gravity lowered (with the installation of batteries under the floor).
The powertrain, developed under the Alliance and produced in Japan for Nissan, and in France, at the plant in Cléon, for Renault, offers better performance than permanent magnet motor technology and the absence of rare earths reduces its environmental impact. It will be proposed in two versions and 96 kW (130 Cv) e 250 Nm and 160 kW (218 Cv) and 300 Nm. Mégane will offer all the pleasure of electric driving, especially a ‘acceleration instantaneous, dynamic and linear (fluid and without jerks), allowing you to go from 0 to 100 km / h in just 7.4 seconds.
Inside the passenger compartment, the innovative design of the dashboard, consisting of a maxi-display that integrates the digital screen in front of the driver and the multimedia screen in a single element. The software that guarantees connectivity is of the latest generation.
Mégane E-Tech is the first Renault car to enter the era of VaaS (Vehicle as a Service) and the first capable of using charging intelligent and, one day, to return the stored energy to the electricity grid (in case of need) with microcharges, thanks to technology vehicle-to-grid (V2G).
The new French electric will also be able to count on customizations “Taylor made” for every single one user thanks to the integration with the personal Google account and the various systems: Google Maps, the Google Play app catalog, the integrated Google voice assistant and the functions of the My Renault App nevertheless give even greater interactivity and proactivity in everyday life .
