Renfe extends the option of traveling with a pet to Avlo

This type of ticket is available in all the usual Renfe channels, and they are purchased by adding an additional supplement to the passenger at the time of purchase or later. Among the current conditions for taking advantage of this service, the operator indicates that one pet per traveler is allowed, not exceeding ten kilos and as long as they are dogs, cats, ferrets, non-poultry birds, guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits.

In all cases, they have to travel inside a cage or carrier, with a maximum size of 60 by 35 by 35 centimeters, which has some device that allows the containment and removal of waste. During the journey, it will be placed at the feet or on top of the passenger without occupying a seat. In addition, the owner will be in charge of its control, make sure that the animal complies with the necessary hygienic-sanitary and safety conditions and have the mandatory documentation in accordance with current legislation, which must include civil liability insurance for damage to third parties, which includes the persons responsible for the animal in its coverage.

Destinations

The destinations that Avlo can travel to with pets include the Madrid-Barcelona connection, with intermediate stops in Guadalajara, Calatayud, Zaragoza, Lleida, Camp de Tarragona, Girona and Figueras. Other lines where Avlo arrives on which pets are also allowed are those of Madrid-Valencia, with stops in Cuenca and Requena-Utiel; and Madrid-Alicante, with parking in Cuenca, Albacete and Villena. Traveling with large dogs

Currently, there is the option of traveling with large dogs, up to forty kilos. This type of ticket is exclusively available on a selection of AVE trains on the Madrid-Barcelona routes, with stops in Zaragoza, Madrid-Mlaga, Madrid-Alicante and Madrid-Valencia.

Renfe allows one dog with these characteristics per traveler, with a maximum of two “big” dogs per train, in a single car and always in a fixed space with two specific seats.
