Renfe has allocated 245 million euros to digitization and cybersecurity since 2018

Renfe has publicized the projects in which it works in terms of innovation, technology and digitization. During a meeting at the TrenLab headquarters in Madrid, focused on these areas, the president, Ral Blanco, stated that the objective is to maintain the leadership position on the road to the future of transport.

To this end, it has indicated that more than 245 million euros have been invested in digitization and cybersecurity between 2018 and 2023. In addition, another seventy million euros have been approved for this year, an amount that represents the largest item made in this part of his story.

During his participation in this event, Blanco highlighted the commitment they have made to open innovation, a model that combines internal and external knowledge under a collective intelligence approach to provide more speed and efficiency to the entire process, especially in the process. Digital sphere, on which a large part of the innovation challenges will revolve.

TrenLab Program

On this digital path, Renfe has taken the first steps to get closer to the future with the launch of innovative programs such as TrenLab, an accelerator for emerging companies, startups and innovation projects, aimed at both national and international companies. Since it began, in 2018, 17 startups have been promoted and have obtained financing to develop their projects.

Through TrenLab, disruptive technological solutions are sought that add value to the transformation and differentiation of Renfe and that help to solve the internal challenges of the business. To this end, artificial intelligence, Big Data, Blockchain, virtual reality or 3D printing solutions are analyzed and evaluated, and their applications are aimed at improving operational efficiency and customer experience.

The conference that took place at the TrenLab headquarters also included the participation of the General Director of Development and Strategy, Manel Villalante, who explained the main projects that the company has developed in recent years and highlighted the role of digitization as one of innovation levers.

Immediately afterwards, there was a round table in which a representation of large companies and startups with which Renfe collaborates in technological and digital transformation projects participated: Microsoft, Telefónica, Visualfy and Imotion.
