Renfe manages more than 1.6 million free passes for the third quarter

For trips on Near and Medium Distance networks until December 31

Of the more than 1.6 million free tickets that have been issued, nearly 1.2 million are passes to travel on the different Cercanas hubs, including those of Ancho Metrico. The other more than 400,000 correspond to Media Distancia. Together with them, Renfe has processed the sale of nearly 40,000 tickets with discounts of 50 percent for Avant trains. This is the same fare reduction that applies to other high-speed routes that have been declared a Public Service Obligation.

Obtaining the allowance

The period for obtaining these free titles for recurring travelers remains open throughout the validity period, although it is necessary for the client to be previously registered. On the one hand, the Cercanas application allows its acquisition quickly and easily with the generation of a QR code that is downloaded to the mobile phone and which is later used in the access control of the stations. On the other hand, Media Distancia subscriptions can also be processed through the Renfe website.

Although these tickets have no cost, it is necessary to deposit a deposit of ten euros in the case of Cercanas, and twenty for each conventional Media Distancia service. Once it is confirmed that the condition of having made sixteen trips has been met, this amount is refunded. If payment was made by card, the refund is automatic.
