Renfe presents the winning companies of the fifth call of the TrenLab program

(10/11/2023)

The emerging companies chosen in this fifth call of the Tren Lab program were presented at the Railway Museum. These are BIM 6D, Unblur, Air Purifier, Arsoft and UPintelligence, who will access a personalized acceleration program and will have up to 50,000 euros to develop their project. With these projects, Renfe seeks solutions to the challenges proposed in this edition such as the digitalization of security systems, ecological transportation, training with virtual reality, industry 5.0, fleet optimization and the metaverse in mobility.

The five selected candidates will now begin a personalized six-month acceleration program, which already has the experience of having worked with seventeen emerging companies since 2018. In addition, they will be eligible for a contract of up to one million euros for the deployment of their project in Renfe. .

Winners

Firstly, the winner of the metaverse challenge, BIM6D, presents an immersive initiative aimed at improving the passenger experience and the operator’s internal management. The technology it develops opens up new possibilities for transformations, for example, in the way people relate to transportation. All this, through three-dimensional models of virtual trips and actions.

Regarding the proposal selected for the ‘digitization of security systems’ challenge, Unblur offers a solution that will help emergency services work safer through simple technology. The selected company has developed incident command software designed to help Forward Commanders deal with saturation and coordination at the incident scene.

In third place, the one chosen for the ‘green transportation’ challenge was announced. In this case, UAP proposes the installation of devices that offer a high level of efficiency in air purification and an improvement in energy efficiency. This technology is based on fluid dynamics that suctions, captures, filters and purifies with great power the particles suspended in the air resulting from the friction of the catenary, the wheels, the brakes or the polluting gases.

Regarding the ‘fleet optimization’ challenge, UPintelligence has been selected. His project, customized for Renfe Viajeros, is based on the creation of a fleet prediction and optimization model, accompanied by a system for displaying temporal data and future data. The pilot project will provide a decision-making support tool that offers improvement in scenario predictions. To do this, the development and use of advanced artificial intelligence algorithms such as Machine Learning or Deep Learning are taken as a basis.

Another presentation was chosen for the ‘training with virtual reality’ challenge. In this case, the company Arsoft presents the platform called EyeFlow, so that Renfe and its employees can work with augmented, virtual and mixed reality content that recreates routes, driving cabins or places such as train stations. In this way, machinists train their skills and abilities in a safe environment and reproduce possible incidents such as accidents, fires, adverse weather situations or breakdowns as many times as they wish.
