Renfe registers 35.5 percent more passengers compared to the first two months of 2022

The demand for Renfe services continues to rise. In the first two months of 2023, the operator has registered a 35.5 percent increase in travelers compared to the same period of the previous year.

(24/03/2023)

The increase in demand that Renfe has registered in January and February 2023 means the incorporation of more than 20.5 million new customers. In this way, it has reached 78.6 million passengers.

This increase has occurred both in the Cercanías and Media Distancia and Avant trains, as well as in the AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Euromed and Intercity services.

One of the elements that has contributed to this increase is the extension of aid for public transport. In this sense, Renfe recently reported that 1,865,000 free passes had been issued during the months of January and February to travel on the different Cercanías and Media Distancia networks and also for Avant tickets, discounted at 50 percent (see news).

The fleet of trains with which all these services have been covered have contributed to reducing the circulation of more than 50 million private vehicles and avoiding the corresponding emission of carbon dioxide.
