Renfe has transported nearly 1,800 dogs, weighing up to 40 kilograms, since the ‘Big Pet Project’ began in September of last year.

Specifically, the collaboration between both companies allows dogs and their owners to travel on board the trains in the “most pleasant” way, and for this purpose the travel guide with good safety practices is available. Nestlé-Purina.

Renfe’s ‘Friendly Transport Service’ with dogs up to 40 kilos is available on certain AVE trains on the Madrid-Barcelona (with a stop in Zaragoza), Madrid-Málaga, Madrid-Alicante and Madrid-València lines.

The travel conditions remain the same, one “large” dog is allowed per traveler, with a maximum of two dogs per train, in a single car and always in a fixed space of two specific seats.

This premise does not condition the number of pets weighing less than 10 kilos that travel in a carrier on the train, where guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits have also recently been included among the admitted pets, thus reinforcing Renfe’s commitment to the travel of pet animals.

For its part, pets weighing up to 10 kilos can now also travel on Avlo trains. Specifically, pet tickets are purchased by adding an additional supplement to the traveler’s ticket at the time of purchase or later, with a price per trip and pet is 10 euros.

Nestlé-Purina has donated 1,800 kilograms of food to homeless animals, 1 kilo for each “large” dog that has traveled this year using the new Renfe services, coinciding with International Adopted Dog Day.
