Rennes smiles again. Four days after missing their reunion with Ligue 1 in Reims (3-1), the Breton club managed to snatch a narrow victory against Nice (2-1). The Rouge et Noir went through all the feelings on Monday. Seeking redemption, they wasted no time at first. Terrier, very free in an apathetic Nice defense, opened the scoring opportunistically after just six minutes (1-0, 6e). But events quickly took a completely different turn for the Breton club and its striker. Dominating, the Rennais were nevertheless included on the scoreboard. Barkley, already dangerous the first time from afar (13e), allowed the Aiglons to equalize, on a sublime floating shot (1-1, 21e). A first hitch, followed by a huge blow for the Rennais, with the exit of Terrier (35e). Touched on a harmless action, the 25-year-old player was visibly seriously injured in his right knee.
Sans Terrier, Rennes s’en remet à Bourigeaud
Shocked by the injury of their striker, the Rennais waited for the resumption to get back into high gear. Bruno Genesio’s men again settled in the camp of a suffering Gym, but fished for a long time in the last gesture. Like an unframed head by Bourigeaud (56e), or a blocked shot from Doku, substitute for Terrier but very messy (58e).
