Fans of high-stakes home renovation are in for a treat as HGTV premieres the new season of “Renovation Resort Showdown” on Tuesday, July 22, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.The eight-episode series promises a thrilling competition, pitting skilled design and build teams against each other for a substantial cash prize.

The latest installment of “Renovation Resort Showdown” will see real estate expert Scott McGillivray (“Vacation House Rules”) and builder Bryan Baeumler (“Battle on the Beach”) overseeing a dramatic transformation of an untouched waterfront property. four professional teams from across North America will be tasked with converting newly constructed shells into luxurious, four-season vacation homes.

According to a company release,the competitors include Cami and Chris,a married couple from Toronto,Ontario; Melissa and Shannon,friends from Charlotte,North Carolina; Rasheeda and Jake,a husband and wife duo from Philadelphia,Pennsylvania; and Hollie and Graham,a father and daughter team from Orangeville,Ontario. Each team will navigate the challenges of an eight-week timeline and a $150,000 budget to create a unique and appealing vacation destination.

Did you know?—Scott McGillivray, known for “Vacation House Rules,” has been a licensed contractor since 2001 and a real estate investor since 2003. He brings extensive experience in property investment and renovation to the show.

Judging and Competition Details

Each week, McGillivray and Baeumler, alongside rotating guest judges, will rigorously evaluate the teams’ work. The judging criteria will focus on quality, creativity, and functionality, ultimately determining which team secures the coveted $100,000 grand prize.

The initial challenge will center around the primary bedrooms and bathrooms,with a bonus task requiring teams to design and build multi-use custom headboards.As the competition progresses, teams will tackle entryways, kitchens, grate rooms, downstairs recreation rooms, and exterior spaces. “Scott and Bryan will lean on their signature banter and keen observations to guide the teams,” the release stated.
