Reopening of European airspace to Libyan aircraft

Libyan Airlines announced that it has shortened the flight time between the Turkish city of Istanbul and the capital, Tripoli, by about an hour, in addition to saving no less than 3,100 kilograms of fuel.

The company explained, in a statement, that its Airbus 330 aircraft departs Istanbul Airport heading to Maitika Airport via the European air route through Greek and Maltese airspace.

Libyan Airlines confirmed that this will shorten the flight time on the Istanbul/Tripoli sector by about an hour as an initial step, while saving less than 3,100 kilograms of fuel, which will increase operational efficiency and save time for passengers alike.

The company considered this step as a qualitative leap for the company to reduce operating costs, extending thanks to the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Air Transport Administration, and the company’s Air Transport Department for their efforts in reopening this air route.
